Thomas-blog-post-image-1.jpg

December 12, 2019

Hi Thomas, we absolutely love your Shaken Udder Christmas tree! What made you think of creating this?

After having my first milkshake (my first exposure to Shaken Udder at my Secondary School) I looked at the empty bottles and really liked it – I was a bit lonely the first few days so I started collecting my bottles to keep me occupied. I know it seems a bit weird…

Originally, I was just storing the bottles in my locker, after about a week and a half they started taking up a lot of space and I didn’t know what to do with them but they made me think that I could possibly make something useful from them. The festive season was approaching, and I decided I would make a Christmas tree. The inspiration also came from another source as when I tried different stacking techniques in my locker a triangular shape worked the best which made me more determined to make the tree.

The Christmas tree you’ve created looks great! How many bottles did you use to make it and how did you fix it all together?

I used 276 bottles in total. My dad bought me a hot glue gun to stick the bottles together. As the structure became bigger (wider and taller) I had to support it with cello-tape.  I had a few bottles left and then decided to make a circular shape to represent a Christmas door  wreath for our front door.

Have your classmates helped you to collect bottles over the last few weeks? What do they think of your Christmas tree?

Yes, it has been a joint effort from multiple people across the school ranging from people giving the odd one every now and then to people giving me 2 or 3 a day! I’m now known as the Milkman (with a recycling plan!) and have a few milkmen who very kindly collect bottles on my behalf as well.

All the people who I’ve shown pictures of the tree are always very impressed and supportive of what I’ve done.

What is your favourite Shaken Udder milkshake flavour?

Definitely Top Banana

Do you have any other plans to start other creations?

Being in a Grammar school leaves limited time for relaxation and hobbies, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed spending time over weekends to make something creative and useful from my Shaken Udder Stash. I mostly worked on Sundays (therefore it took a few weekends to complete). I found it very relaxing and rewarding to eventually see the bottles become something.

My aim is to keep on collecting Shaken Udder bottles at school (I already have a bag full again) to increase the tree’s width and height for next year.  I’m thinking of making something for Easter like a cross, hopefully I can donate that to our Local Felsted Church during Easter celebrations. I’m also thinking of making poppy fridge magnets for Remembrance next year to sell on behalf of the British Royal Legion poppy appeal.

November 12, 2019

Check out the latest news from our fab ambassador Immy Thompson-Bland who, at the age of 15, is already achieving great things in British Eventing and Dressage – read on to see what she has to say!

Hey Immy, can you introduce yourself and tell us what you’ve been up to recently?

Hi, my name is Immy, I am a 15 year old British Event and Dressage horse rider. I  have been riding all my life as my mum is very horsey – almost riding before I could walk!! I’ve just come to the end of a really great season.

With the pony I mainly event, we had a fantastic season, winning our first event and placing in top 8 at many others, as well as winning one of our last events. He really is an amazing pony, who helps me achieve and learn so much. Our last event was the NSEA (schools) national championships of which the team managed to place 3rd, we were all so pleased.

My dressage horse has also had a great season, however sadly we had to withdraw from inter-regional’s which was very disappointing as I was so pleased to be selected to go and compete for team southern. Shortly after she was back and ready to go – we won quite a big competition in our Under 21 section. I am very excited to get her out more this winter!

Last but not least I have my 5y/o who we will continue to produce and train over the winter, he has been on top form recently so hopefully we can get him out to his first ever competition soon.

What do you love most about your sport?

The thing I love the most about riding is probably my relationship with the horses. It is really great to compete and get good results – I can see how much the horses adore going out competing and showing off. However, my favourite part is seeing how much my horses enjoy it and having fun with them out at competitions and at home. Riding has also made me a much more confident person and taught me so many skills.

Proudest achievement so far?

This is a really hard one as I am proud of many things that I have achieved and which mean a lot to me with the horses. It would probably have to be the change from going to being so nervous about the smallest thing in riding, to feeling really confident in myself and the horses – I would never have been able to achieve what I have this year without my amazing horses, parents and trainers.

What’s your ultimate/future ambition?

I would love to be able to compete in Juniors or Young Riders for team GB. Even better if it is on my dressage horse, Fly, who I have now, as we would have improved together from the beginning, to get there would be so amazing.

Why do you drink Shaken Udder, what’s your favourite flavour?

I drink shaken udder because not only are they THE best tasting milkshakes, they are also a really quick and easy breakfast, snack or source of energy before competing. They don’t contain anything artificial, they contain vitamin B12, made from British milk and are a good source of calcium. I also really love how the company started, have a look on the front page of their website to find out more about that.

Cooper-blog-post.jpg

August 14, 2019

Check out the latest news from our fab ambassador Cooper Rushen who, at the age of just 9, is already making waves in Speedway! We asked him a quick-fire round of questions about himself and his sport – read on to see what he has to say!

Hey Cooper, can you introduce yourself and tell us what you’ve been up to recently?

Hi my name is Cooper Joe Rushen, I’m nine years old and live in Tollesbury, Essex. In the last few weeks I have been training really hard and preparing my Motorbike for the British championships.

What do you love most about your sport?

What I love most about my sport Grasstrack / Speedway is probably the atmosphere, because people come along to watch everyone race and when I cross that finish line in 1st, 2nd or 3rd I’m really happy!

Proudest achievement so far?

I think that my proudest achievement would be my first British championship because I was the youngest in the class aged 6 and I went there feeling nervous.

What’s your ultimate/future ambition?

My greatest ambition is to be a world long track racer for Great Britain.

Why do you drink Shaken Udder, what’s your favourite flavour?

I drink shaken udder because it gives me energy and its really yummy. I like all the flavours so a very hard choice but Vanilla just gets it as my favourite.
