Check out the latest news from our fab ambassador Immy Thompson-Bland who, at the age of 15, is already achieving great things in British Eventing and Dressage – read on to see what she has to say!
Hey Immy, can you introduce yourself and tell us what you’ve been up to recently?
Hi, my name is Immy, I am a 15 year old British Event and Dressage horse rider. I have been riding all my life as my mum is very horsey – almost riding before I could walk!! I’ve just come to the end of a really great season.
With the pony I mainly event, we had a fantastic season, winning our first event and placing in top 8 at many others, as well as winning one of our last events. He really is an amazing pony, who helps me achieve and learn so much. Our last event was the NSEA (schools) national championships of which the team managed to place 3rd, we were all so pleased.
My dressage horse has also had a great season, however sadly we had to withdraw from inter-regional’s which was very disappointing as I was so pleased to be selected to go and compete for team southern. Shortly after she was back and ready to go – we won quite a big competition in our Under 21 section. I am very excited to get her out more this winter!
Last but not least I have my 5y/o who we will continue to produce and train over the winter, he has been on top form recently so hopefully we can get him out to his first ever competition soon.
What do you love most about your sport?
The thing I love the most about riding is probably my relationship with the horses. It is really great to compete and get good results – I can see how much the horses adore going out competing and showing off. However, my favourite part is seeing how much my horses enjoy it and having fun with them out at competitions and at home. Riding has also made me a much more confident person and taught me so many skills.
Proudest achievement so far?
This is a really hard one as I am proud of many things that I have achieved and which mean a lot to me with the horses. It would probably have to be the change from going to being so nervous about the smallest thing in riding, to feeling really confident in myself and the horses – I would never have been able to achieve what I have this year without my amazing horses, parents and trainers.
What’s your ultimate/future ambition?
I would love to be able to compete in Juniors or Young Riders for team GB. Even better if it is on my dressage horse, Fly, who I have now, as we would have improved together from the beginning, to get there would be so amazing.
Why do you drink Shaken Udder, what’s your favourite flavour?
I drink shaken udder because not only are they THE best tasting milkshakes, they are also a really quick and easy breakfast, snack or source of energy before competing. They don’t contain anything artificial, they contain vitamin B12, made from British milk and are a good source of calcium. I also really love how the company started, have a look on the front page of their website to find out more about that.
